The World of Love Multicultural Carnival is an annual multicultural celebration organized by the North America Chinese Culture Promotion Society. Through live performances, cultural exhibitions, traditional arts, interactive workshops, family activities, and community participation, the Carnival brings together diverse cultural communities and promotes love, respect, inclusion, and intercultural understanding.

Sound of Harmony
Sound of Harmony is the opening-day centrepiece of the fifth annual World of Love Multicultural Carnival, presented by the North America Chinese Culture Promotion Society.
More than a large-scale performing arts gala, Sound of Harmony brings together cultural presentation, immersive experiences, and intercultural exchange on one shared stage. This year, distinguished inheritors and professional artists of Kunqu Opera and Suzhou Pingtan will travel from China to Vancouver, offering local audiences a rare opportunity to experience two of China’s most refined traditional performing arts.
Alongside these exceptional Chinese cultural performances, professional artists and cultural groups from Vancouver’s diverse communities will also take the stage. Rooted in Chinese heritage yet created for a multicultural Canada, Sound of Harmony uses culture as a bridge—connecting communities, amplifying diverse voices, and creating more opportunities for different cultural traditions to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

Suzhou Pingtan is an intimate storytelling tradition combining expressive singing, spoken narration, humour, and the delicate sounds of the pipa and sanxian.
Through only a few voices and instruments, Pingtan brings an entire world of characters, emotions, and stories to life, reflecting the elegance and cultural spirit of China’s Jiangnan region.
